Understanding the dangers of a policy of 'engagment' with Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently said the Canadian government had been blindly adhering to the demands of 'rabid representatives' of the Ukrainian diaspora.

Those comments prompted a flood of social media posts from Ukrainians across the world who proudly began using the hashtag #RabidUkrainianDiaspora. 

To provide us with real insight into the attitudes of Ukrainians in Canada, Paul Grod, the President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, joined us in the Ukraine Today newsroom.

He was visiting Kyiv as part of a Canadian delegation including members of parliament and Foreign Minister Stephane Dion. 

He says although the policy of Canada's new liberal government of engaging with Russia is welcome, it does present dangers.
